Mary Rains

Mary is a University of Georgia senior majoring in Environmental Economics and Management alongside a minor in Environmental Law. Her studies allow her to extend her passions to her professional ambitions. During Mary’s freshman year, she was in the Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets, where she ate, trained, and learned alongside her cadet peers.
After transferring back home to Georgia, she quickly immersed herself in campus life at the University of Georgia, taking on leadership roles to support fellow transfer students. She serves as a Transfer Ambassador, President of the Transfer Student Club, and a program director in Student Government Association, ensuring that new students had the resources and support they needed to succeed.
In addition to her extracurricular pursuits, Mary dove deeply into the housing market of Athens. Without knowing exactly what she was looking for, she settled for a house she found on Facebook, then found her new best friends the same way for the following year. She is not afraid of change, and her experience with the Athens housing market proves that.
Mary is also extremely passionate about health and wellness. She enjoys working out regularly, finding that fitness provides both a mental and physical outlet to balance her busy schedule. Whether weightlifting, running, or attempting new fitness challenges like Tough Mudders, she values the discipline and energy that come with an active lifestyle.
In addition to her dedication to fitness, Mary has a love for cooking. Growing up, she was in awe of her mom’s cooking ability, but didn’t find her own desire for it until she was on her own in college. Cooking serves as both a creative passion and a way to unwind, whether she’s meal-prepping for the week or testing out a new dish for friends and family.
